Honeymoon in Curacao: Willemsted & Beaches

Curacao feels like the definition of what it is: Dutch caribbean. I have not traveled to Aruba and Bonaire, which makes up the ABC islands with Curacao, but I have been told that Curacao feels the most authentic. Though Curacao has its fair share of resorts, you can still feel local life and visit the public beaches dotted around the rest of the island.

I spent a week in Curacao one October for our honeymoon, and it was a relaxing week spent at island pace exploring beaches, tasting delicious local food, walking around colorful Willemsted ... and at times hiding from the sun. We rented a car for a couple of days to beach-hop, which was easily arranged through our hotel. We signed up for a tour to Klein Curacao, a beautiful beach that was definitely worth it, and took a tour that gave us an introduction to the island, which included the requisite stop at the curacao factory (verdict: try it with the lemon sorbet).

Recommended for a low-key tropical getaway!
